It’s BBQ season – Ideas for the Grill

BBQ-fruits.jpg
peach-1.jpg

Summer is just around the corner and so is Father’s Day so it’s time to fire up the grill! As many are discovering new recipes while staying at home more, why not try some new ideas for the grill? You might think about grilling vegetables when barbecuing, but how about fruit? When fruit is grilled, it evaporates some of the water in it, concentrating the sugars. Plus, the sugars on the surface of the fruit become caramelized when grilled, creating flecks of crunchy, sweet goodness. Stone fruits, such as peaches and nectarines, can be halved and grilled cut side down or kebab style brushed with oil and sprinkled lightly with cinnamon. Add a cocktail to your meal by grilling some cherries. A Grilled Cherry Sour made with gin makes for a refreshing beverage. Pro tip: Use a grilling basket so cherries don’t fall through the grates. Bon Appetit!

Attention Everyone! THE #1 Most important thing we need everone’s cooperation on is to please stagger your arrival times. If you can wait at least an hour after the market opens to arrive, please do so. And don’t worry, farmers have plenty of produce!

With everyone staying home cooking and baking, we’d love to share your creations. If anyone has any photos or recipes they’d like to share with fellow market-goers, please email them to us at info@vccfm.org

Everyone is doing a great job but we just received new protocols on April 13th that are requiring stricter crowd control.

Please observe the following rules and we thank you for your cooperation:

#1) LINES ARE TOO LONG. UNLESS YOU NEED EGGS, PLEASE WAIT AN HOUR BEFORE YOU COME TO THE MARKET. DON’T WORRY, FARMERS HAVE PLENTY OF PRODUCT.

#3) PLEASE REFRAIN FROM GATHERING AND WAITING IN THE AISLE WAYS.

#4) PLEASE LIMIT YOUR SHOPPERS IN THE MARKET TO JUST ONE PERSON.

#5) PLEASE AVOID COMING TO THE MARKET IS YOU HAVE A COUGH OR FEVER.

#6) PLEASE MAINTAIN A 6 FOOT DISTANCE AT ALL TIMES.

#7) PLEASE SNEEZE OR COUGH INTO A CLOTH TISSUE OR YOUR ELBOW.

#8) DON’T SHAKE HANDS AND AVOID ANY UNNECESSARY PHYSICAL CONTACT.
