Since 1971, Beylik Family Farms in Fillmore, California has produced fresh produce sold exclusively at farmers markets throughout Southern California. Scott Beylik, a third-generation farmer is running the farm after his father and grandfather. He and his wife Laura, continue to focus on the direct marketing business. They originally started selling at the Downtown Ventura Farmers Market in 1987 and are currently participating in a total of 14 Farmers’ Markets. The Beyliks specialize in year-round tomato production, with the most popular varieties are being Big Beef, Plum, and San Marzano. Seasonally they grow squash varieties including yellow patty pan, yellow zucchini, green zucchini, Mediterranean, and yellow crookneck. Additionally, customers love the seasonal sweet pepper varieties of red bell, lipstick, and Toro de Oreo. Hot pepper varieties are Jalapeño, Serrano, Hungarian, Ancho, and Anaheim Peppers.
